Michael Figge
Bassist, Composer, Bandleader
Michael Figge is a bassist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City, currently in his first year at The Juilliard School's Jazz Studies program. He studies with Gerald Cannon, Ben Wolfe, and Ron Carter.
He has studied with George Garzone, Rodney Whitaker, and Matt Brewer. His performance credits include Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Wally's Jazz Club, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Lilypad, and the Vermont and Brubeck Jazz Festivals. He has shared the stage with Michael Rodriguez, Phil Grenadier, Harvey Diamond, Andrew Bishop, and others.
As bandleader of the Michael Figge Group, he presents original music drawing on the full tradition of jazz. His compositional work extends to film scoring and orchestration for professional productions.
Figge is also co-founder of JazzCat, a jazz discovery and ticketing platform supported by Wynton Marsalis.
